Event Details:

  • Base / Meet: Wangaratta Aero Club, 80-82 Brian Higgins Dr, Laceby VIC 3678
  • Pilot experience:  

non solo pilots - dual flying (arrange prior to 13/12/23 pre-camp meeting.)

solo pilots - local soaring, dual flying, badge flights and XC flying.

GPC pilots - XC flying & mountain soaring.

  • Event type: cross country flying & local soaring for solo pilots.
  • Environment: Flatland and mountain soaring.

  • Camp dates: 26.12.23 - 7.01.24
  • Meet time: 08:30am to prepare aircraft. (do it early so you're not baking in the sun)
  • Daily 10:00am briefing at Aero Club:
    • Daily weather.
    • Tasks.
    • Allocation of gliders for the next flying day.
    • People's movements for the day.
    • Dinner location and time. 
  • Launch time: 11:00am (can be organised earlier with tow pilot)
  • Briefing notes: TBA
  • Event cost: 
    • $80 - $100 (cover tug ferry & club airfield fees)
    • $10 day - private aircraft parking fees.
    • A donation to the Aero club for using thier facilties.
  • Maximum aircraft limit: 20
  • Maximum pilot limit: 30
  • Social activities: Members meet daily for evening meals after flying.
  • On non-flying day activities:  
    • Wine tours.
    • Drive to Bright or Mt Beauty for lunch/dinner.
    • Sight seeing.
  • Accommodation: Self organise

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    • Plan to fly for 4-8hrs if you're doing cross country task.
    • Ensure you bring sufficent water, food and sunscreen when you come to the airfield and when you're flying.
    • Register for a free account on www.onlinecontest.org and/or https://www.weglide.org/ and upload your flights. Weglide allows you to attach photos to your task. 
    • The club aircraft have 'EDS Cannula' for use but the club encourages people to buy their own from sites such as: https://www.flightgear.com.au/  or   https://wingsandwheels.com .
    • The club aircraft have 'Pee tubes' fitted. Prior preparation is needed if you are planning to use them during the camp. It goes without saying, that it is expected that you flush/clean the tubes & glider outside after your flight.
